I saw this jacket and decided I had to have it. It looks really good, it fits, and it was only $32. I think I'll call that a win. http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=backinstock&product_id=2082875931&Page=all#

Mall? What mall? I'm slightly obsessed with ideeli. You should be too. http://www.ideeli.com/invite/Matatagirl
Two of my favorite things are food & fashion. I love and need both of them in my life. Normally, I would try to save my pennies, but it seems like the cosmos is telling me I need to go to this. First, I run into Johnathan Kayne at the art museum. Then, I run into a lady whose agency is producing the show... yeah, definitely needing to go to this. Anyone else wanna go?
Here are the deets: "Project-Runway-famed fashion designer, Johnathan Kayne, will host the exclusive Fashion for Food Fashion Show at the Regional Food Bank on Saturday, September 25th from 6:30 to 10 p.m. The custom Johnathan Kayne pieces featured in the finale will be available for purchase in a live auction at the event. Additionally, a number of silent auction items will help to raise charitable dollars. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Regional Food Bank's Food for Kids program. Kayne hopes to provide Food for Kids backpacks to 150 chronically hungry elementary school children. Food for Kids provides chronically hungry elementary school children with backpacks filled with non-perishable, kid-friendly food to eat over weekends and holidays. Food for Kids serves 305 elementary schools in 42 counties across central and western Oklahoma, providing backpacks to nearly 8,000 chronically hungry children each week during the school year. There are currently 25 schools on the waiting list to join the program. Tickets go on sale to the public August 31st. Seats will be limited. General admission tickets are $75, and front row seats are $100. Mark your calendar today – more details later!" http://www.regionalfoodbank.org/Event-Calendar/Fashion-for-Food Yeah, I'm totally going. If y'all haven't checked out Sara Claire & Esther, (@SaraCandEsther) you're missing out. I've work with these girls, and everything they do is fabulous. The designers, Aimee Mars and Sara Jordan, pull inspiration from the lives of their grandmothers and incorporate vintage elements into every item. Their first season, Spring 2009, the vintage elements were men's vintage oxford shirts, the fall of that year incorporate vintage khaki and lace, and this spring it is vintage buttons. I can't wait to see what they come up with this fall. Anyway. The beauty of them using the vintage element is that every item is unique. I LOVE being able to have one-of-a-kind items. I think it is fantastic. Granted, I'm not a movie star, but when I wear them, I kind of feel like one. Here are some pics of some of their designs: This is your new blog post. Click here and start typing, or drag in elements from the top bar.Myself (in the SC&E Democracy dress), Aimee Mars (in her self-designed PURPLE wedding) and Sara Jordan (in a bridesmaid dress by Kay Unger) Part of my stash of SC&E clothes. Whenever I wear these, people stop me in the street to ask about them. My favorite is that red number on the bottom. Pair it with some sexy black leggings and some heels, and you're ready for a night on the town. Plus, they put so much into the details of the clothing. Check out the details on the houndstooth cape. Yeah, that's gold top stitching. Oh, and their Spring 2010 line? FAB-U-LOUS. I can't decide which dress I want. Short, sweet and sassy, or the one that just screams "PAY ATTENTION TO ME!" Hmm.... I totally deserve one as a reward for my getting close to finishing my dissertation... right? You wouldn't want to buy me one would you? You can buy Sara Claire & Esther at the following spots:

Then you can love them just like me. C So the good news is I’m single and ready to mingle… or at least I think I am. The bad news is my boyfriend dumped me out of the blue because he doesn’t have “feelings” for me. This, a week after he drove 11 hours to surprise me for Valentines Day. Confused much? Yeah. Me too. However, the other good news is that I believe in the power of retail therapy. As the ever stylish Tammy Faye Baker has said “Shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist.” True Tammy Faye, very true. (Does that picture scare anyone else? Yowza. It's a very prime example that sometimes more really is just more.) So, the morning after I was left standing at the proverbial curve, I decided I needed to take action. The dress that I’ve been eyeing from Leona Collectionwas going to be mine. It would make me feel better and look fabulous. After checking online, I was only able to find a 6 and a 10. I highly doubted I’d fit into a 6, and after losing 30 pounds, there was no way on God’s green earth I was going to wear a double digit dress. I’ve worked too hard for that. It would have been salt in the wound. Really. So, I went to the only shop in town that I know of that carries Leona Collection, The Shirt Shop… and what do you know, they had a size 8 that fit perfectly. And the people rejoiced. On a side note, does anyone else vent to sales clerks? No? Just me? Hmm… maybe I should stop doing that, because when I was checking out, the owner jokingly offered to buy me a shot at the restaurant next door. Yeah, I definitely need to not vent to sales clerks. Whoops. But you know, it’s kind of funny, when women are upset about something, we eat or go shopping. When men are upset, they just invade another country. I think it's a whole different way of thinking. (Why, hello, disposition theory…) So, yeah. I have a new dress (one that Taylor Swift also owns), and I look fabulous in it. Now, all I need is an event. Actually, who cares? I’ll just wear it while I work on my dissertation this weekend. Does the dress make me feel better? Yes. Permanently? No. But, it gave me that little boost to get through an otherwise awful day. The rest, I can deal with. So let’s hear it for retail therapy.
Whoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to go shopping. -- Bo Derek I'm a fan of The Bachelor. There, I said it. Don't hate, cause I'm not ashamed. I love the drama, the romance, the possibility that there will be a happily ever after and the clothes. Yes, the clothes. Sometimes you see a girl and her clothes are on point. She looks hot, and she knows it. Other times, (and these are really the best of times) girls are just a hot mess--not only do the clothes just not work, but some of these girls are just plain CARAAAZY. I'm not gonna point fingers at the hot messes in this bunch ('cause y'all know who you are), but feel free to enjoy the clips below. It just really doesn't do justice to this lovely young lady's level of... well... um... she was special. On a side note, I REALLY love how she tries to brush off the crazy. Um... yeah. Michelle, honey, all of America saw you acting a fool. They can only edit things so much, and Chris Harrison has even said they had a camera on you at all times. You can't brush that off. Aaaanyways. Back to the clothes. Take, this season for example. We have a plethora (big word) of available ladies on the show, tons of dramatic moments that are poised to rip your heart out, and fantastically cheesy music to set the stage. On the wings of loooooooove.... Anyone? Anyone? No? Alright, I'll move one. Some of these ladies look lovely, and are every bit a lady. My favorite fashionistas this season are Tenley and Ali. Tenley looks adorable in just about everything she wears. A-DOR-ABLE. (Of course, if I was a size 2 former Disney Princess, I'd look good in everything too.) Take the dress from last night for instance... that sassy green number was just precious. I don't know where she got it, but it totally reminds me of the dress I've been obsessing over from theLeona Collection. (The pic is below.) I swear, if it hadn't sold out before I could buy it, that beauty would be hanging in my closest as we speak. Hint, hint Leona Collection. I'm a size 8. (Kidding, kidding... Sort of.) My other favorite fashionista is Ali. This girl can rock out some kicks at a rose ceremony, or go completely formal in some BCBG. She's just my style. Fashionable, yet fun. Casual, yet cool. Personally, I think she's a little too worried about Vienna (don't GET me started on her... yeesh), but her style is fantastic. I want to go shopping with her. There's such a thing as parasocial interaction (when people think that celebs would be their friends if they were to ever meet*), but is there such as thing as parasocial fashion interaction? Because I'm pretty sure Ali and I would be the best shopping buddies. In fact, I love some of the styles so much, I forget about the plot of the show. So this week, (SPOILER ALERT!!!) when the my neighbor was sobbing from Ali leaving, I was searching the internet for Ali's clothes... again. I'm just saying, that dress is too cute. I want it. So, yeah. I really want ABC to change their interview format around a little bit at the end of each show. Instead of asking the girls how they feel about situations, they should ask them where they got their clothes. Cause if you think about it, wearing clothes on this show is possibly one of the greatest product endorsements you could get. Forget social media, fashion lines just need The Bachelor... wait, I didn't mean that. So, Ali, what I really want to know (other than how your heart is doing) is who are you wearing? More importantly... where can I get it? C |
